2024 Started with an Amazing Opportunity
September 2024—In January I received an unexpected invitation to bring a Soul Box Project display to New York City for Northwell Health’s 5th annual Gun Violence Prevention Forum. The organizers had seen a small clip about our Project in The Nation magazine and contacted Nicky Enright at Riverdale Country School, Bronx, NY, to ask if they could borrow the school’s display for a visual element at the GVP Forum….
Six Years of ARTvism with More to Come
October 2023—On October 1, 2017, a heavily armed man in an upper story of a Las Vegas hotel shot and killed 58 people at an open air music festival. The gunfire wounded 413 more; at least 450 were injured in the panic that ensued.
It's Spring & We are Busy Planting Hope!
April 2023—Remember how overloaded our metaphorical tree of Soul Box panels was last year? We have been successfully trimming it down by sending out Branches all around the country, where they can grow awareness of the gun violence epidemic in their new locales.

November 2022—Imagine The Soul Box Project as a Giving Tree grown huge with panels of Soul Boxes displaying the memories, love, and concern of everyone who has participated. This bountiful tree is overgrowing its space in Portland, Oregon.

October 2022—As the Soul Box team is busy working out details for the next phase of the Project, we find ourselves at the first anniversary of This Loss We Carry on the National Mall.
What's Next for the Soul Box Project
August 2022—We are in the process of planning an effective way for activists to nimbly use and share the Soul Box panels and other resources without the time, expense, and environmental impact of repetitive shipping.
Exhibit Viewing Dates Extended
July 2022— This venue, generously offered by Urban Developers + Partners, has allowed an installation of This Loss We Carry that is more dramatic than any of our other Portland exhibits. Experience the visual power of over 40,000 Soul Boxes representing U.S. gunfire deaths or injuries so far this year.
Our Project has a New Home
March 2022—The role of serendipity in the history of the Soul Box Project never ceases to amaze. We now have enough room for all 200,000 Soul Boxes, with a small workspace for the creation, repair and packing of panels.

November 2021—The effect was staggering. Thousands of visitors viewed the exhibit on the Mall with disbelief, tears, and gratitude for the message.

October 2021—We know change takes time. As the gunfire epidemic accelerates, we need to acknowledge our Soul Box Project event in D.C. was not so much a grand finale as it is an auspicious beginning.
